Tonight we had this new get together at our church in July. Our pastor came up with it, it is called “Franky Fellowship” or something similar to that. We ate hot dogs, visited, and Jim gave a message on Isaiah 55:11 “So shall My word be which goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return empty to Me, Without accomplishing what I desire”
I will further discuss this later on in this post.
One thing I gathered before the gathering, was the unity in the fellowship tonight. There were only about 30 of us there, but communion happened. These people were the usuals, who showed up for Sunday night Bible Study’s and Wednesday night message, and Wednesday monthly business meeting, but if only we would communicate this love to our community O how they would react to the joy of Jesus Christ.
We touched several Scriptures tonight including the one I mentioned above out of Isaiah, and as I was reading just before that verse I read Isaiah 55:10 “For as rain and snow come down from heaven, And do not return there without watering the earth, And making it bear and sprout, And furnishing seed to the sower and bread to the eater”
It is a funny thing that a week ago, July 4th we had just finished baling hay for the summer since their was a lack of rain. There have been forest fires, and field fires, and dry fields. So since April 15th Arkansas especially in Pottsville, we have not had a good couple of days shower. After I got out of work this past Saturday the rain clouds found their way here, and it has been raining the past three days, and there is another big chance next week. This verse shares of Gods goodness, and how when He lets it rain, He lets it rain for growth to come forth, and needs to be met. The same with His word. We may feel like we plow and plow and plant for nothing, but if we totally depend on God, His work, and trust in His purpose, we will surely see growth, whether it be in our pastures, and the church. I thought of patience when reading these two verses. We must not only praise God when it rains, but we must praise Him when it doesn’t. In my life it feels like there is a drought of finding a mate. (I don’t know why I used that word, but it sounds neat) For a long time now, I have fought and wrestled with singleness, and I figured out their is no winning. There is one thing though, obedience. Just like waiting to see Gods restoring work in a farmers farm, or a churches people, God will carry out His purpose if we are obedient in the waiting. Listening to God is obeying, whether it be doing, or waiting.
